German Conversation

The German group meets twice a month on the first and third Wednesday mornings. There
are vacancies.
The participants are expected to have a fairly high level of competence in German. We
usually discuss (in German) items in the German news (e.g. on the Deutsche Welle website
dw.com/de). Each member of the group brings an item that has caught their interest and
presents it to the rest of the group, who can then ask questions and discuss the item presented.
The items usually relate to life, society, politics of Germany, but not always. We have
discussed a wide variety of topics, from the rise and influence of the AfD to Christmas
markets.
