Boules/Petanque

Pétanque (pronounced "pay-tank") is a wonderful social game played at the Tollgate Inn, Holt. BA14 6PX on their gravel piste.
The rules are very simple. You stand in a hoop and throw a small wooden ball.
The goal is to throw your steel ball closer to the tiny wooden target (Jack) than your opponent does.
If you can hold a ball and throw, you can play. It's a perfect game for all skill levels.
Light exercise, social interaction with a drink in your hand in our lovely countryside is an ideal way to spend a Wednesday afternoon.
