Our interest is architecture in all its forms, and the influence of architecture on our lives. We visit buildings where changes have been made to see and hear about process and what has been realised. Past visits include Stonewood Design, Corsham; Bath Abbey’s footprint project, individual homes, Trowbridge Town Hall after refurbishment. We visited the community-led rescue of the Hop Pole pub while under restoration and two of Klas Hyllen Architecture’s projects while in progress.
Fine buildings and fine churches large and small. Past visits include Rodmarton Manor, Brook House, Bromham; the Church of Our Lady and St Alphege, Bath, and Downside Abbey.
Local villages have their own unique story and pattern of buildings as told by the communities that live there. Parts of nearby towns are also interesting to explore with a guide. At our January meeting we draw up our programme for the year. The group is full but there is a waiting list.
